Did you ever look out the window
So long that you lost track of time?
I’ve watched and seen you leave and return
Through this pane of mine.
Are you dreams all of fast cars,
And ample business deals?
Or are there more to your interests
Than what you seldom reveal?
I’ve never felt obliged to write,
On the subject of you before
But our perceptions and opinions
Have lately parted more and more...
We are the same in many ways,
I wish that you would see
Your stubbornness and temper
Have certainly worn off on me
I wonder sometimes if you were romantic
Or defensive, just like me,
If you’ve ever said “I love you”
And been happy just to be
Playing games of snooker
And keeping on track with world news
Are the things that I see most,
When I search for your hobbies and views.
I could let you in on my world
See life as vibrant as I do
Seek origins of the dragons,
Feel the Shaman drum beat too
But would this all be wasted on you?
Proof I have yet to grasp
Though I’m sure there’s things you could teach me too,
If I only had courage to ask
Nevertheless wounds have been made
Though I’m leaving, its not that bad,
I’m off on my own adventure
And your life can be yours again, Dad.

The rising sun can dispel the darkness of night, but it cannot banish the blackness of malice, hatred, bigotry, and selfishness from the hearts of humanity.
